Good Afternoon Holliman Families,

In accordance with state law (§16-21-4, §16-21-5) all schools (public and private) in Rhode Island, are required to perform 15 emergency drills that include fire and lockdown drills. Today we had our very first fire drill. The students did a GREAT job exiting and returning to the building quickly and quietly.
As a reminder there is no school on Monday, 9/7 for Labor Day and Wednesday 9/9 for Primary Day.

Please review the WPS bus code of ethics and rules and regulations with your child if they ride a bus or van. This will also be posted in the newsletter, however I felt it necessary to share prior.

Good morning Holliman Families Our drop loop routine went really good yesterday despite just some minor hiccups with a bus in the wrong place and of course the rain. Each day it will go more quickly. Please avoid the parking lot. The parking lot is not a drop and go. Please review bus expectations with your child. Students are to remain seated and inappropriate language and behavior are not at all tolerated. Looking forward to a wonderful Wednesday!

Good Evening Holliman Families,

We had a very smooth first day of school - only 1-2 minor hiccups at dismissal. Some buses were delayed in arriving at some bus stops, however once the drivers and monitors get to know the students better, I'm sure they will arrive at your child's bus stop on time.
Please continue to communicate your child's dismissal plans with your child's teacher and/or the main office via email. Miss Ann's email is ann.palumbo@warwickschools.org.

VERY IMPORTANT
Second Day of School Through the Last Day Arrival

I encourage all families arriving via car to enter the student drop off loop via Mullen Rd.

Please have your child seated on the passenger side of the car if possible.

Pull all the way up to the all purpose room door or behind the car in front of you.

Please do not exit your vehicle.

Your child(ren) will exit the vehicle on the passenger side.

If necessary, a staff member will assist your child in getting out of the vehicle.

You are allowed to pass/go around cars in front of you that need a little extra time; there is plenty of room to do this in the drop off loop.

Most of the lot will be closed off for the buses.

If you MUST enter the parking lot, please take an immediate left once you enter the lot.

Do not follow the buses

Please let all family members who may be dropping off your child about this routine.

Dear Holliman Families,

Welcome to the first day of school!
Arriving by car - enter the parking lot via DEBORAH RD. and park in designated spots only. The lot is a ONE WAY!
Please let your child's teacher know how they are getting home today. Write a note or complete the Google form.

Please label all belongings; water bottle, hoodies, backpacks, lunchboxes, etc.
We are a peanut free school.
Arrive early to get parking and take photos. The PTA has surprised us with a fun Welcome Back sign for photos as well.
All students enter via the all purpose room door on the side of the building.
Families are not permitted to enter the building to walk their child to class. There are plenty of members of our faculty and staff who can support students. We will also have our superintendent, director of elementary and other directors visiting Holiman today.

Please take a look at our newsletter in its entirety as it contains important information to make the first week, especially the first day of school run smoothly.

Supervision begins at 8:45am. Please plan to arrive early if you are bringing your child to school on the first day. Park in designated parking spots only. Traffic is ONE WAY. There will be several teachers/staff to help with morning arrival.

*Please avoid ringing the buzzer at the front door. All students will enter via the all purpose room on the side of the building.

Good Afternoon Holliman School Community!

Thank you all for such a well attended and fun open house! A big thanks to our PTA for providing lunch and the goose tote bags for our teachers!

Each year the PTA provides green Holliman folders for all students and agendas for students in grades 4 &5 . Typically these folders are used for homework and home/school communication. Thank you PTA! If you have not done so already, please sign up to be part of our PTA.

I understand that there have been many updates to Aspen enrollment and class lists. At this time, I am unable to honor specific teacher requests. Any changes that are made have to do with student programming and new students moving into the Holliman area. ALL of our Holliman teachers are absolutely amazing and we will be sure to provide your child with the best possible learning environment.

Good Morning Holliman Families,

All new Holliman families with students entering grades 1-5 should have received information regarding a new student orientation for this evening, 8/26 at 6pm.
We have had several new students enroll over the last few days. If you are a family new to Holliman with a student entering grades 1-5, you are more than welcome to attend. We will meet in the front of Holliman and will first have introductions and review arrival and dismissal routines. We will then tour the school and answer any questions you may have. I look forward to meeting our new families!

*This orientation is intended for New students in grades 1-5. Kindergarten orientation is on 8/27 at 3pm. Open House for all families is on 8/27 at 4pm. We will meet in the back of the school on the blacktop in front of the podium.

Aspen is still unavailable for families. Please note that some class lists may be visible on other WPS platforms, however class lists are subject to change right up until the first day of school. We have had an influx of students this school year in addition to student program changes and therefore many moving pieces with assigning student classrooms. Please hold off on requesting classroom changes at this time. I thank you for your understanding!
